Hello everyone!
Arrived safely in Christchurch after a very turbulent and bumpy flight! Fiona and Kat (Alex's sisters friends) picked us up from the airport and spent the rest of the night until about 1am chatting and catching up! Most of the conversation involved Lucas, Lindsey and Brandon! :-)
Sunday 30th September
Today we went for a scenic drive with Kat and Damo aswell as their other friends Ben and Fiona to a french fishing village called Akaroa. Went along some bays and stopped off for a picnic by the sea before arriving in Akaroa for a stroll about and having some fish and chips. Lots of windey roads so the travel pills came in handy for Kate again!!
Monday 1st October
Cant believe it's October already!!! Only 2 weeks until Kate's birthday so get the fingers ready for lots of birthday messages! Went into the centre of Christchurch today to Cathedral Square where we relaxed Al Fresco style with a hot chocolate in the square taking in the views of the cathedral. Shame is half covered in scaffolding but still.... then hopped on the city tram which takes you right around the city, only takes half an hour so you can imagine how small Christchurch is! Jumped off at the Art Gallery for a bit of culture before also going to the Canterbury museum which had lots of Mauri artefacts from centuries ago, quite interesting! Then had a walk into the Botanical gardens and saw the replica water wheel and also the spot where we are going to catch the Punting boat on Wednesday!! We'll get some good pics of us two relaxing along the river Avon for you all! So far loving Christchurch its very 19th century English plus we are getting spoilt by Kat and Damo, definately recommend coming her people! Stay tuned xxxx
Tuesday 2nd October
Today we went up the Gondola for views over Christchurch and the Canterbury plains. Was very nice even posed for the cheesy photo going up!At the top had a walk around the observation deck and took some good pics, then we decided to go on a little hike..... Oh my god!! we were fine going down taking particular care of Alexs' ankle but coming back up thought we were going to need the paramedics! We would have been fine if it was just the hill but they put steps instead which were sooooo steep! To say the least was a little out of breath once we reached the top! For our last night in Christchurch we went out with Kat,Damo,Fiona and Ben to the Ruptured Duck! A really nice little pizzeria also had a few drinks as it was Fiona's birthday.
Heading to Greymouth tomorrow on the TranzAlpine train up through the Southern Alps!!!
