Tonight I write to you all for the lovely and welcoming home of Rob and Amy who live on a beautiful dairy farm. They live in a small town called Durrus, which is right outside of Bantry in West Cork. Which was about a two and a half hour bus ride from UCC.
These two love birds met when Amy was actually studying abroad at UCC a few years ago. We got to hear their adorable love story over tea (Barry's Tea which is the best in all of Ireland) muffins and cookies for hours.
While being in their home with a chalk board wall, pictures and trinkets everywhere surrounded by green views and smells of home cooked goodies, we talked and compared study abroad adventures.
While we were having tea the pony in the blog picture came up to the window and we got to go outside to play with him. The rest of the day here was very relaxed as it was a little grey and rainy. It's been very sunny in the Cork city! We aren't used to the stereotypical Irish weather.
We had a delicious traditional Irish dinner of a chicken roast, two types of potatoes and "veg." It was SO much better than anything I've whipped up in our apartment kitchen.
After dinner we got to meet some of their neighbors and after as it said on our "itineraries" we snuggled by the fire with some more tea, cookies and popcorn. It is so nice to be in somebody's home.
As we were going over our Dairy Farm Weekend plans we were told that we get to milk cows, and even may be woken up in the middle of the night to birth a calf! I know Alyssa will be very jealous if that happens. Fingers crossed that it will!
Cheers from Bantry!
Al
PS. Maybe I do have a little farmer in me after all?!

Uncle Wayne Hi Al, Wow that sounds pretty exciting. You'll have so many great memories to look back on. Maybe your Mom and Auntie will get a chance to milk a cow when they get there. Miss ya.
