Well sorry I didn't post anything this weekend but I was off at the beach. They had an internet connection that was pretty cheap to purchase but I was just hanging out on the beach anyways. Our hotel/resort was right on the beach in Cha Am.It was a hotel that was built around 1970, with some remodeling, but the beach was right there! The hotel had three or four pools but why bother when the beach is right there!
Besides just walking around and playing on the beach I also took a Thai cooking class, went to the markets in Hua Hin (about 30 min away), and got a manicure and pedicure for $5 each. She even painted cute flowers on my toes for no extra charge (and it was right on the beach!).I always tell them "no" in the U.S. for a flower because it's an extra $5, but the whole thing only cost that much!We tried these coconut dumpling type things at the market and they were sooo good, I want some more!
There were horses one could ride on the beach but we kept putting it off and I regretted it today (my birthday is today). I got up all early to ride a horse on the beach but they weren't out before we left to return to Bangkok. However, we are still staying at another beach resort in Vietnam and it's supposed to be even nicer so hopefully there will be some horses to ride.
Besides that, I've had a wonderful birthday with wonderful people (I didn't say "amazing" Sherri!). We had a rough bus drive back to Bangkok and we all thought Dr. Pelton was going to actually murder our bus driver, but that's another story. When we got back to Bangkok it felt like we were coming home.We all LOVE this hotel and we want to live in it.All the people are so nice, the rooms and the pool are beautiful and the bar is the best ever.I have to admit I have found myself a beautiful Asian man.He is the lead singer of the band that plays in our hotel every night. He sang "Happy Birthday" to me and kissed me on the hand even.Ahhh.
I picked up my suits this afternoon and we did all our last minute shopping (is there money left?).I couple of my friends and I went to this cute little Thai place for dinner in an area we hadn't ventured into yet. My food looked great but actually tasted pretty bad, but the homemade coconut ice cream totally made up for it. We don't leave for Vietnam till tomorrow night but we have to spend almost the entire day getting all ready for it.We all expect Vietnam to be much harder to get around in than Thailand but we do have some one with us that is from Ho Chi Minh.If I have time tomorrow I will post some more pictures! Not sure when I can post again…
