The jet lag finally hit yesterday and I was not up for as much. That was okay though because we didn't have a lot to do. I thought I was getting sick but my teacher assured me it was not unusual to have the jet lag it yesterday. I thought it was weird that it would take that long to hit.I won't go into detail, but I think the body clock is highly correlated to the digestive tract. The digestive track has to "reset" to "reset" the body clock. My teachers said the jet lag would be ten times worse on the way back so we had better finish our assignments.
I tried the fruit durian the other day.It is a spiky, melon looking fruit that smells awful. It tasted good at first but then the after-taste tasted like the smell. The package I bought had a little piece, which I tried, and a big piece. I gave the big piece to a beggar but I hope he didn't think it was as gross as I thought it was. In other fruit news, I have discovered the sour green mango. It is soooo good.I discovered it at our Coca-Cola briefing yesterday and then I bought one all cut up from a street vendor for less than a $1.
Maybe the mango was cheap but we have all discovered we are going broke fast.I've decided (don't know if I wrote this yet or not) but Bangkok is an Asian New York. You spend a week in New York and you're going to drop some serious cash, same here. We all think we will be broke by the time we get to Vietnam so we'll just have to lay out on the beautiful beach and not buy anything. J
My class went to Coca-Cola yesterday to learn about marketing. It was very interesting, as all marketing is for me, but I still know that management is my thing. They showed us Coke ads catered to the Thai market and how the marketing branches in each local region ties into their global marketing strategy. I asked them about their "green" marketing. They said it is not something they have necessarily pursued in their marketing strategy but it is something that management is all over. They said for the torch relay through Bangkok, of which Coke is the major sponsor, they choose environmental leaders (in science, mgmt, ideas, etc.) to carry the torch.
I had a suit fitting yesterday but it isn't finished yet, still have to go back again today. I bought a whole bunch of souvenir type things to take care of all my friends. I found this store (a hole in the wall) that sold all Thailand organic cotton clothing and towels for super cheap. It made my day and I think it was my favorite find so far.
Our teachers cancelled our trip to Kellogg's because it was a four hour drive away so we have today and tomorrow off. I wanted to see Kellogg but I'm really glad we have some extra time. I need to do some laundry, finish up some research at Outback, get another fitting and go back to the Suan Lum Night Market and see the Joe Louis Puppet show. We have an optional group tour tomorrow that will take all day.I will finish it off with the spa at our hotel.
I'm trying to load my pictures but it isn't working…we shall see.It isn't the same high-speed internet where I'm at.
