As many of you know following this blog, waiting and watching for me to get a job has been a whirlwind of disappointments and let downs. Since the Red Frog Events internship nothing has really worked out like it was supposed to. I think one of the reasons I stopped updating this blog for so long is every time I do one something changes! So I am going to release a news update today on this blog and if it changes again so help me God, I'll delete it! So, last time I updated this I had been hired by Xsport as a personal trainer. For some reason they kept screwing up the paper work, or the things would get delayed, and then the manager was home sick, to where now it has been two weeks since I have even heard from them and they formally hired me a month ago. I couldn't sit around waiting for them to pull their head out of their ass and do the paperwork so I started applying elsewhere. (I think maybe they hired to many trainers at once because the manager was struggling at which gym to start me a.) They really did a lot of damage to me because I took a trip back to Arkansas and stopped pursuing other jobs because I had a guaranteed job from them. So I'm just really a bit speechless about the lack of professionalism and ethics coming from that place. After reading a lot of reviews from ex-employees online I am kind of glad it worked out this anyway. My savings are almost gone though so it is going to get tight for a minute. Anyway I ended up getting interviews at a local Cross-fit gym and a local Anytime Fitness. Both of them offered me a job. The cross fit place wanted me to start as an unpaid intern for like a month or so before I could start actually making money and as much as I loved that place and liked the owners I just can't afford to do it. In a strange twist of events Anytime Fitness offered me a job to basically start the next day (which is now today) to run the office with an hourly plus commission pay. Once I know out a few requirements I will also have to option to be a personal trainer there. As many of you know I did an internship at the Mountain Home, AR Anytime Fitness but during the end of my period there they had a nasty partnership dissolvent that I really didn't want any part of, and there was really just a lot of bad business ethics and policies in that place that I didn't want to start a career with them so I walked away. I do like Anytime Fitness though and they are franchised owned so though they look alike no two are ran the same and this one is family owned and operated so I am excited to come on board with them.
In other recent developments I have started college and is rolling full steam ahead pursing the degree in health and wellness management. So far I am really enjoying this and can tell it is going to be pretty intensive and I am going to learn a lot. This is not a program where you spend all your time in a book there is a lot of hands on practical experience, a lot of state of the art technology, and a curriculum involving everything from classes like human A&P, medical terminology, personal training, multiple nutrition classes, sports psychology, and so much more. I'm thinking it will take me a year and a half to finish this unless they offer some summer or interterm classes. I'm taking five classes now, two are seated and 3 are online. So when I finish this program I will have three college degrees. I really would to stay in after this and just keep going, and eventually get a master's degree. I really enjoy learning and it is important for me I never stop advancing in life.
Jaclyn and I are officially moved into South Elgin and let me tell you it is just fantastic. This woman is a real gym in the morning. She tip toes around quiet as a mouse so she doesn't wake anyone up and is just always thoughtful and considerate. I love that woman even if she slams every door and drawer and runs through the house like an elephant because she runs late (perpetually). Instead of complaining I just get up and say "hi honey, what can I help you with this morning"? Then I go to school and work. Johnny Cash said some things in his last interview ever I don't want to forget. He said his wisdom comes from God and that the secret to a happy marriage is separate bathrooms. I'm not gonna argue with Cash so in my opinion that's a phrase to live by.
Peace,
DH
