I chose the image of this initial blog entry as sort of a metaphor for this period in my life. Having just finished up a grueling internship at Red Frog Events the picture of a lonely finish sky flag stand proud against a hollow tent filled with intangible experience. I made awesome friends in Chicago and it was certainly a huge change from rural North Arkansas. I had an adventure, experience, worked my tail off, but made some great friends and found the woman of my dreams. I want to say that Jaclyn was my saving grace along the way, and never have I loved a woman so much. The dynamic of an Arkansas boy with a girl who has never lived outside of Chicagoland is interesting and always humorous. She made Chicago bearable, and thats not easy.
Couple all this with the family that brought me in, gave me a home, and treated me like a brother and son, well it would make a good movie I bet. I will have to tell you about my Chicago family more later, a lively bunch as we would say in the south.
Now the city of Chicago is no home for a man who finds refuge in the silent wilderness, but it appealed to my adventurist side to say least. More then once Jaclyn and I spent days exploring the urban landscape and feeding every homeless person that God directed me to. Now I will say I am the worlds worst example of a Christian but I have a huge heart and I hope that counts for something.
This is the first blog in what I hope will become many. For me to reflect on and share a bit of my experiences with family and friends along the way. It's something I always wanted to do, and now I will get a chance to. I hope to share my travel, life experience, and the one million hobbies I have. I am a bit of a hobby junkie to say the least.
Yesterday I was in Arkansas, today I'm in Chicago, and shortly I will find myself in the forest of Wisconsin. Now that I think about it I wish I had a picture of a start flag. This may be short and uninformative as far as first post go, but let's take it day by day and look to tomorrow.
Farewell for now and thanks for following the "Adventure Junkie" today.
