Yesterday we spent another day at the orphanage with the kids. The kids very kindly helped me learn a little Spanish before teaching me some games they love to play. One of the boys, Valentino, taught me how to play a game involving a spinning top and a piece of string. It is pretty addictive so definitely going to buy one as soon as I see one in a shop. Just before we left we went to visit the really young kids and they wouldnt let us leave until we gave them all a hug! One of the workers at the orphanage invited us to go on a little trip with the kids today so we got up early and headed to the orphanage but when we got there they told us we weren't needed so we decided to jump on a combi and got to HualHuas, the artisan capital of Peru which is full of mini shops of local wooden things and clothes made of alpaca. I was able to pick up a pair of alpaca gloves and an alpaca jumper for 50 soles, just over £10!
just as we were heading home we saw a fellow gringo and ended up talking to him. Turns out he was an American Christian travelling alone. He was couch-surfing around the country or staying with people he meets. All he had was a day pack and that was all his stuff. If sounded awesome what he was doing until we asked what his plans were and he told us he will go wherever God tells him to go, in this case god was telling him to go to the jungle. After he told us this we decided he was either really high or really religious, but most likely both! But it was funny all the same!
Tonight we are going out to celebrate the world not ending and all, because everyone thought it definitely would. Guess we should drink extra just in case the end of the world is delayed a little!!!!
