Today we had a pretty big set back on the building we are doing up, and which we are hoping to move the after school club in to from Monday.
We spent the morning cleaning and prepping the interior walls ready to be painted but when testing the paint it comes falls off the previous layer very easily. The paint is so watered down over here that it makes it very difficult to use so now we have to sand all the previous layers of paint off the interior walls before we can begin, so looks like completion will be a week behind schedule.
On the plus side, in Pukara where we work there are two restaurants open for lunch and for 3 soles you get a huge bowl of soup for starter followed by usually chicken or an omelette served with rice and potatoes and a coca leaf drink. All this for less than £1 makes lunch times very cheap!
As we were so far behind on the building project I didn't get a chance to go to the orphanage today but hopefully should get a chance tomorrow. I did get to go to the Casa project where I was able to help a kid with homework for a while, granted he was only around 5 and learning to count between 20 and 40 but it was fun all the same.
After working from 8am till 6pm we were pretty tired so decided to buy a few beers in and make some pasta for tea, this went well until we found a huge bag of limes and began playing like basketball with a jug. Needless to say a large number of limes are currently missing throughout the kitchen and living room, and very possibly the bedrooms too!
We have been invited to a Peruvian wedding on Saturday therefore we are going to hire suits for the day tomorrow evening, and judging by the clothes usually worn around Huancayo it's going to be one epic, extremely elaborate suit, providing they have giant suits!
