Last night I set out on my 15 hour overnight bus from Arequipa to Lima and was surprised to find that it went over pretty fast as I more or less passed out for most of the trip and only woke up when the bus broke down with a flat tyre for a couple of hours. Yesterday I began my journey out of La Paz at long last. Now La Paz is a nice place and very interesting, but the longer I spent there the more I realised it was not a place where I could live easily. On Friday we had an early wake up and headed off to the airport bound for Puerto Maldonado, where we were to spend the next 2 nights staying in an eco lodge on the banks of the Amazon River. This morning we woke up full of aches and pains of the last few days so 5 of us decided to miss out on the day trip to some more ruins and opted for a relaxing day in cusco which began with a nice hot breakfast before an hour long massage to refresh our muscles.
