Adam and Charlotte's Great Escape.
Hello again this is our second postcard to fully update you with what we have been going.
So from Taman Negara after a bus ride, a mini van ride and a boat ride we finally arrived on Perhentian Besar ( the big island of the two) on the western beach. As we arrived quite late we took the advice of the Lonely Planet and stayed in the Paradise Island Resort, what a mistake!! The first room she gave us she fogot to tell us it didnt have a sink in the bathroom so we asked her where we are ment to clean our teeth! After shrugging she said we can have a room with a sink, the funny thing was though someone had booked it the follow night so we could only stay in the non-sink room for one night anyway. Well we ended up moving along one he following day to Mama's where we got a hut with a balcony which was basic, had a leaking toilet but was nice. We stayed on this island for 3 nights. On our first full day we spent most of our time on our stretch of beach, which was rather corally and unfortunately the water, although beautifully clear, wasn't deep enough to swim in. Then in the late afternoon Adam got itchy feet and decided to walk up the end of the beach where he discovered a hidden bay that we could quite easily walk to through the last resort. This bay was paradise!!! Fluffy white sand and blue clear water that was wonderful to swim in. We decided to spend our second day here as it was just perfect. There was also patches of coral around this bay so we hired snokelling gear, but we only lasted about 10 minutes as we both got bitten one of the fish and it put us off.
As the second of the Perhentian Islands (Perhentian Kecil) is so close we decided it was only right to spend a few days there to so we headed to Coral Bay. The beach here was a bit of a disappointment after the previous beach and it was a lot more busy and built up. Anyway on our second day on this island we walk 10 minutes through the jungle to Long beach which was really lovely. It had a bit of a backpacker feel to it and was quite busy but the sand and sea are nearly as beautiful as our paradise on Perhentian Besar.
We decided that it was time to get back on the main land and after an eventful boat trip back and a taxi ride we are now in Kuala Terengganu.
We will write another postcard soon
Bye bye
Charlotte and Adam xx
