Adam and Charlotte's Great Escape.
Hey hey hey everyone,
We have moved quite alot down the East coast since we last wrote a postcard. We ended up spending 2 nights in Kuala Terengganu at the Grand Paradise hotel, despite the name it was not very grand and not much like paradise but it was bearable; once we managed to get a non-smelly room with a window. Our days here were spent catching up on our washing and doing internet jobs but we just didnt get round to writing this postcard.
From Kuala Terengganu we jump on an express bus which only cost 4 pound for the two of us and was the most roomy bus we have ever been on. It only had 3 seats across and was like sitting in your front room. We got dropped off at Cherating which is a little beachside village, we were a bit lost when we got off the bus as we were left standing on the side of the main highway not knowing which way to go. After finding the village we spent 2 nights in a rather scappy bunglow, however we did have a very nice second day lying on the beach which unlike the Perhentian Islands had a lovely breeze coming off the sea.
From Cherating we jumped in a taxi which took us down to Kuantan where we stayed in the Classic hotel. This was a little gem, the room was clean and well presented with a tv and hot water, all for a good price. This is a state capital so our 2 days here were spent wandering around the shops and trying to find an internet cafe and somewhere that does international calls. Kuantan as a town wasn't really geared up for travellers but it was nice to get in amongst the locals, we eat in a little chinese resturant which served up really tastey food but we the only non-Malay people in there.
Two days was another in Kuantan as we were short of time anyway and wanted to head for another island, so we caught another express bus down to Mersing which is the main ferry port for a group of islands off the east coast.
Bye for now,
Love Adam and Charlotte xx
