Adam and Charlotte's Great Escape.
Hello,
We are now in yet another country which we will be exploring for the next month. Crossing the Thai-Malaysia boarder was another fun mini-bus ride which look about 11 hours. But we got to Penang safe and sound and managed to find a cheap room, in Chinatown, for a couple of nights which was a bit worn and we had to share a bathroom.
Penang, which is a small island off the west coast, did not quite have the bustling feel that we expected, and it did not have as bigger Chinese influence as we thought it would have from reading the Lonely Planet. We expected, especially at night for it to have many streets rambed with Chinese hawker stalls and markets, but in fact there were lots of streets that we all shut down by 6pm. However, we checked out a few of its sights like, the Fort Cornwallis which is made up of old stone walls and cannons. We also visited the Masjid Kapitan Keling and the Koo Kongsi mosques. We left Penang Thursday night and took the train down the Kuala Lumper.
It is now our second day in Kuala Lumper and we are enjoying our stay immensley in the Shangri-La hotel. This is the most luxurious hotel we have ever been in and the food is perfect. Staying in this hotel means we get a 24 hour view over Kuala Lumper which is pretty amazing. Apart from enjoying the hotel's facilities we have seen the Petronas Towers and the Seri Angkasa which stands high in the sky right behind the Shangri-La building. We have also browsed the Suria KLCC shopping mall and bought a very expensive bottle of water. We are going into Chinatown to explore the markets tonight.
Good bye for now
