We are now in Krabi town staying in a hotel, where there only appears to be one other room in use other than our own. The other guests seem to be a German guy with a Thai prostitute! The place is recommended by our Rough Guide book. Today we have been on the James Bond Tour. We got a longtail boat from Phang Nga down a mangrove river out into the sea passing dozens of forest limestone khasts (see the many photos - available soon hopefully!) to the island where Roger Moore filmed "The Man with the Golden Gun". We struck a couple of stupid poses where we looked nothing like Bond (see photos) and then got back on our boat and visited the floaating village. We had a delicious lunch there, got accosted by a woman with a monkey (see photos) and then stumbled across a goat sacrifice (we thought we would spare you those photo!).
The afternoon took us to a monkey cave containing a large buddha, where more drama unfolded. One of the tourists thought that she would pick up one of the baby monkeys. The monkeys mother took exception to this and left the woman with a large gash in her leg. After a short trek in the jungle we were driven home where amazingly enough we came across the final day celebrations of the vegetarian festival! Several chinese women had skewed themselves through there faces with large knitting needles, which is apparently meant to cleanse the soul after ten days of vegetarianism. I think I will carry on eating meat for now!
