Odd Lovely Days of Danielle
Well 2 bottles of wine and 4 beers...between my room mate and I....class at 9AM...yea right....the night started to go great...had a couple of glasses of wine while we sat in our drab room (which seemed to look better as the mintues passed) doing home work, which by the way wasn't a big success. Had to meet our friend Brent down stairs by 23.30 no worries. It was only 19.00. I needed to put my laundry in the dryer so my room mate accompanied me. The washing machine is in the kitchen which we were in luck because we were starving. We were rummaging through the huge freezer for food and found our sick food that we eat for breakfast in a bucket that they distribute to us every morning...mmm....even more appetizing....we know the direct source! A bucket! not sealed......I am glad I know I am paying 600 dollars for this place....some how we ended up with a bottle of wine and a cork screw instead...and little german toothpick flags as a souviner...
Now only 20.30...we go up and hang out with our other unexpected room mate from Italy. She doesn't like wine....imagine that. I broke out my Italien book and she attempted to teach us some of it while we supposed to be doing home work. Very studious....mmmm...well time to go meet Brent and some other international students...it was okay but it was so cold...possibly snow tomorrow says Brent....great...the party was okay... I ended up being hit on by some native Klagenfurt typical Austrian boy...which I ended up hiding from since he didn't understand I don't like you...language barriers..the Austrian and German language I tell you are not as similar as everyone thinks......but I have to say I was missing Heidelberg...Klagenfurt is a small town with literally no music places no dance clubs and not even really that great cafes...I don't know how long I am going to last here...but school is okay...
I went to a lake today..the biggest in Austria...It was nice...we plan to take a paddle boat out there...the water is so clean that the Austrians claim you can drink out of it and they do...no snow...but it did start to rain....of course...also went into the old town today which was nice it reminded me a little of Strassbourg, France...all I wanted was a Döner...but they don't make vegetarian ones here...of course. Oh I forgot to say that we were accompanied by a british boy named..mark..thats it.... that swears he is 21 but I believe he is 18...and..that attempted to woe my room mate mehgen, from the night before....we finally decided to go into this mall where a T-Mobel store was so I could get another telefoniert karte since the one I bought the other day at the Bipa was to my unknown knowledge an Austrian one....We find a pizza a place and some how I end up getting an order of a large pizza basically..when I ordered only two slices....my german couldn't have been that bad...I am in the top german class:)....So its me...a huge box of pizza...british 18 boy...and mehgen.....walking in the old town of Klagenfurt....
There was a homless lady on the street.... kneeling in the praying position...just hands out reached staring straight ahead...I knew she was Muslim..luckily I had vegetable pizza...so I asked if she wanted one...she did and that put a smile on her face which made me smile as well....I like being able to help..even if its as small as that....
Tonight...there is another party but I really need to finish my homework from the night before so I don't live up to the sterotype of Stupid Amerikanerin! I am still missing Heidelberg at the moment and might bail out early....I didn't have to pay for it..so who knows...and if I am going to stay in Heidelberg I need to get the ball rolling...I asked evryone why they they came to Klagenfurt...they said they were told it was the best...I think they said that to lure us all here and then steal our money and join the cult of international students...of Klagenfurt...who knows...I think me and mehgen are going to go to Venice this weekend...how nice to be able to say that!
Okay...okay...really things are great...I just ran into some people I met last night...tonight is supposed to be awesome....I got a little help on my German from Brent...we are in the same class....its nice to have a temporary Brent replacement..(I have one also in my class back home)...and...life is good! I am begining to know my way around here a little bit better so things are awesome. Smiles and rain and cloudy days from Auustria!
