Today we had lots of fun at school celebrating Chinese New Year. We made some fried rice in our classroom and ate it with some really yummy sweet and sour pork that one of our other teachers made for us. It was delicious. We did our best to scare away the man eating monster Nian by running around the oval shaking our noise makers and red streamers and as a surprise Mrs English let us each have a sparkler. We didn't see the monster so we must have done a good job. We tried to have a go at the game Chinese whispers - but it was a bit of a disaster. The message went from The great wall of china is very very big, to chinese dragons are very very big then by the end it was chinese races are very very big. Mrs English thinks we had better keep practicing that game. Through the week we made lucky red envelopes with good luck messages and lucky money in them for our friends and today we each gave these out. We finished off our Chinese New Year celebration in traditional style by participating in a lantern parade. We had so much fun this week in China and can't wait for our next adventure next week in South Africa.
