James Coghlan Hi 2E, Mrs Horsnell certainly knows a lot about Italy. I've never been there but I have friends of Italian descent and I used to love being invited to their place for dinner. Eating for Italians is a very social event and brings the whole family together. Many of the vegetables they eat are grown in their own gardens. If i ever get to Italy I want to go and see the Colessium and Venice.
Robyn and Allan Hi 2e Sounds like you are enjoying your overseas travels. We wonder if some day you really will go to visit some of the exciting places you have been learning about. Please bring us back some of that yummy Gelato. Looking forward to reading of your travels in Australia. Happy learning as you travel.

Mrs Horsnell Hey 2E!! It sounds like Mrs Swart was a great help in your South African travels. I am looking forward to seeing your beading and paintings in real life next time I pop in. And now, some fun facts about South Africa for you... * South Africa is the second largest exporter of fruit in the world * South Africa has the cheapest electricity in the world * Three of the five fastest land animals live in South Africa - the cheetah (63 miles per hour), the wildebeest, and the lion * What an amazing place! Until next time, Mrs Horsnell xxx
Fiona Coghlan Hello everyone. About 15 years ago I spent some time in Italy. Venice is an amazing city. Everything you need, including food, clothes etc. is delivered to the city by the waterways. Imagine having to travel everywhere by boat or gondola, instead of a car?
re: Carnevale in ITALYMrs Horsnell Wow 2E, what an unexpected bonus to get a visit to America! You will have to cash in your extra Qantas frequent flyer points when you get home (along with half of Australia). I did some Thanksgiving research too... * the Pilgrims celebrated the first Thanksgiving Day at Plymouth, Massachusetts * The pilgrims didn't use forks; they ate with spoons, knives, and their fingers * The first Thanksgiving celebration lasted three days * Today in the US, about 280 million turkeys are sold for the Thanksgiving celebrations * Now that's a lot of turkeys isn't it? I can't wait to hear more about the rest of your travels. Love from Mrs Horsnell xx
re: Thanks GivingMrs Craft & 2C Crew Sounds like you had lots of fun in China. You did a good job at scaring away the monster because it would have been scary to see 2E disappear off the oval. Make sure you check out our blog as we have been to a few different countries. If you come to 2C, be careful not to get mummified. We still have lots of toilet paper left!!! Talk soon Mrs Craft and 2C

re: Carnevale in ITALYMrs Horsnell Hi 2E. I wish I could have seen the Vatican with you... I've heard it's beautiful. Volcanos are amazingly powerful things aren't they? Ok, fun fact time! * Pizza was "invented" in Naples around 1860s and pizza is one of the very few words which is understood all over the world * the ice cream cone is an Italian invention * over 75% of Italy is mountainous or hilly * the official language is Italian, but German and French are also spoken in some regions * It's been berry interesting reading about Italy and I can't wait to see what you learn about Australia. See you next week! Mrs Horsnell xx

re: South AfricaMrs English Hi to the Bostocks - thanks so much for commenting on our blog. We first got our idea about making a blog when we read about your great adventures around Australia. We hope you are still having a fun time and we are sad to hear that your trip is almost finished. You will have to get home soon before Chelsea starts prep next year. We will be big grade 3ers next year - and we hope Chels enjoys school as much as we do. Love from Mrs English and 2E (PS Mick is at home doing all of his jobs that Mrs English left for him) Mrs Horsnell - we always love hearing your interesting facts about our countries. We are glad you don't have to have snow to make icecream any more - because we all LOVE icecream and we all no the snow would melt quickly in our hot Mt Isa. We hope to see you at school soon.
re: Fun in ChinaMrs Horsnell Hi 2E and Mrs English. It sounds like your visit to China was amazing. I went to China in June this year but I didn't seem to have anywhere as much fun as you guys did! Here are a few facts about China you might not know... * Red is considered a lucky color in China. At one time wedding dresses were red. New Year's banners, clothing, and lucky money envelopes are still red * Ice cream was invented in China around 2000BC when the Chinese packed a soft milk and rice mixture in the snow * China is the fourth largest country in the world. China is sometimes a day ahead of the United States * I am really looking forward to hearing all about South Africa. Anyone's mum making milk tarts???? Love Mrs Horsnell xx
