Today we have been touring around Italy. First we went to Venice where we were all able to be in the carnevale which is a mask festival. At the festival men and women, rich and poor all come together to hide behind their masks and celebrate together. There were lots of beautiful masks with feathers, pom poms and glittery decorations all over them.
When we were finished at the carnevale we went on a tour of the rest of Italy. First we went to the Trevi Fountain. It is a beautiful big fountain and we all threw money into it and if our money landed in there the Italians believe that one day we will return to visit them again.
After that we were wondering what the gigantic building that was falling over was. We went inside and found out it was the Colosseum. This is where they used to fight back in the gladiator times.
Speaking of buildings that are falling down - the next place that we visited was the Leaning Tower of Pisa. What a funny looking building that is. We all stood out on the grass and pretended to push the building straight again while Mrs English took our photo.
Mt Vesuvius was our next destination. We found out that it is a very old volcano and when it erupts it causes lots of damage. We were lucky enough to build some volcanoes of our own and watched them erupt.
Our last place that we visited today was the Vatican City - which is the smallest country in the world. We were lucky enough to see the POPE!!! He blessed us and told us to always try our hardest at everything that we do and be kind and friendly to everyone we meet.
We have had so much fun in ITALY - OHHHhhhhhhhh we nearly forgot - we also got to try some yummy yummy gelato!! It was berry flavoured and Mrs English thought it was Berrry Good!! Hahaha
Sadly our trip overseas is almost over Next week we will be flying home to Australia and finding out some more information about our own country. We will write again next week to let you all know that we have arrived home safely. Thankyou for following our blog.
Love from the 2E travellers.
