Leaving Cairns & the Woolshed
Leaving Cairns was a very sad one! i'd made a lot of friends and it had become my home! but i didn't come to Astraila and work all those long nights to see just one place! so moving on was always going to happen! but i left behind a lot of good friends some local and some backpackers! some i may not see again, and some i've already planned to see! my time in cairns was a great and i got a lot out of it! mainly about the medi-care system! but i acheived my main objective! and that was to try a new job to do something other than greenkeeping or coaching! and the Woolshed gave me that option!
Work to begin with was tough! mainly getting use to the hours! finishing at 4am weekdays and 6am at weekends! but after a week or so it was ok! i put my heart and sole in to it every night because i really wanted to get the full exsperience! and it wasn't long till i was practicly running my department! which also made work easier because i could concentrate on just the glasses and help the manager who had to look after every one else! a lot of glasses exspect it to be a lot like Butlins i think! but with every one incouraged to dance on the tables if we don't do our jobs properly it became a health and safty nightmare! and that's why a lot failed there trile! The way i saw it, if they couldn't get there act together for a 2 hour trile, then they couldn't do it over a couple of months! and it was my holiday too so i wasn't prepeard to carry any one! this was an atitude shared by the managment! and that's why they were happy to let me get on and run the show!
The Woolshed showed me an industrie i had always been intrested in! and when i left i was sad to go but the managment Baggy and Paul were also sad to see me go! telling me i was always welcome back and there would always be a job for me there! i got on really well with everyone at work and on a day off i would always hang out with others who had days off! my days off if not under staffed were Sunday and Monday so Sunday night was always my big night out! even if i wanted a quiet night in! some how i would end up on some kind of mini pub crawl ending up in the Woolshed always! HAPPY DAYS!!
So on my last day in Cairns it wasn't suprising that i spent it there! with my friends! even those who had days off came to say goodbye! which ment a lot! and what was really nice was that they all came down to the bus stop to see me off!
It was such a great end to my time In Cairns with had started so slowly and painfully!
Thank you to all my friends i made! for making my time so much fun! and Baggy (Steve Strudwick) for giving me a great oppotunity!
