Day 7 - When a monkey nibbles on a penis, it's funny in any language.
So, day seven begins with a hangover that would slay a walrus, no time to clear it up with a greasy breakfast though, as we had to be on our way down to the pier to head over to phi phi lay on a longtail boat for a spot of snorkelling and looking round the various coves and bays of the island! First we headed to one cove where we did some snorkelling, which to be honest I've never been keen on... the sea is not my favourite place at all, but I put on my big boy pants and jumped in, after a sort spell of panic and some hyperventilation I calmed myself down and enjoyed watching the fish and whatnot swimming around! Glad I did it, I'm quite proud of myself! After this we headed around to the cove on the opposite side of the island from maya bay, I can't just recall the name at the moment, here we were told that we could just swim and no snorkelling because there were too many boats around, but this was fine because its a gorgeous spot!! Then for the main attraction of the boat trip, to see maya bay, famous for its appearance in 'the beach'. This place is one of the most amazing, beautiful places I've ever been to in my life! The beach, the sea and the jungle behind were just incredible, even though there were hundreds of people and lots of boats, they didn't spoil the view. We had an hour here to soak it all in, by this point my hangover was taken away and replaced with sheer awe!! We were then called back to the boat so we dragged ourselves away and back on the boat to head back towards phi phi don. There was one more stop on the way back, this was to monkey beach, a very literal title as there are a big family group of monkeys living on this beach, I got off to feed one of them a bit of pineapple that we'd been given on the boat, this was really fun, I got some great photos of them! Then it was time to head back to shore to the main pier! What a great half day out this was, I would highly recommend this for anyone coming to Thailand, it's pretty cheap too, as we got a gypsy style longtail boat and not a normal speed boat, it only cost us 250 baht which is about £5, great value for money!!
We get back to the village and the bungalow a little tired and hungry so we head out for lunch and decide to have a nice chilled afternoon sitting in the sun! No alcohol for me though, I think I drank phi phi dry of Chang yesterday...
After a while chilling, we decide to go for a drink, I cave and have a beer, hair of the dog job you know! When sitting in a bar on the beach we notice a thing that's been happening throughout the trip so far. In bars, taxis and things, they seem to play popular music of the time that somehow isn't quite right... They sound almost identical to the originals, same music same lyrics and that, but it's not actually the right artist singing it, it's really weird, the best example of this was hearing rolling in the deep by adele in a taxi, it was uncannily similar but definitely not her...weird! After this we head back to the bungalow for a bit more of a chill and the music from the bar we finished off in last night comes on, lets just say I'm glad we were out in it last night! The bass is shaking the bungalow so hard the floor moves!! It's actually better to sit outside because there's less shaking! After it finished we could get some sleep and prepare to leave phi phi in the morning, not happy about this as we have decided its our favourite place yet!! Oh well, we have a schedule to keep! Back to phuket for a night tomorrow before flying to Kuala Lumpur!!
Thanks for reading!
