Day 8 - "it's just like morecambe"

Day 8 begins with somewhat of a lie in, only till 9, but that's late for us on this trip! So we decide to get some breakfast out in the town, this is the first breakfast we've had since Bangkok! Not the best but we didn't care because we had some bacon!! We then headed back to the bungalow to pack up and check out, we left our bags at reception and went down to the beach for a drink and a sunbathe, it's pretty hot today despite it being pretty cloudy, we still caught the sun a bit! At this point we really don't want to leave phi phi because its awesome! So we're not desperately happy, but then we see something that really cheers us up and makes our day! There is a group of British tourists on the beach for the day doing a bit of swimming and sunbathing, soon after they're settled down a man approaches them and shouts 'surprise', it was their friend who had decided to come out and surprise them, the looks on their faces and the screams of 'OH MY GOD' were priceless and like I said really cheered us up!
After a while we decide to head to town for a bit of shopping, I wanted a t-shirt and Becky wanted a bracelet. So we go to get some cash from an ATM, and my card doesn't work, so I try again and in another machine but it still doesn't work, at the time of writing this I don't know what the problem is because I can't get through to the bank on the phone...thanks Barclays!! After a beer or two in woody's we head to the pier to head back to phuket!
Throughout our stay on phi phi the only complaint was a few mosquito bites, we each have about 10-15 apiece, which we thought was pretty bad!! But then after seeing one girl the other day with them completely covering her legs and a girl on the ferry putting antiseptic and bandages on her boyfriends leg it seems we got off pretty lightly!! After a slightly windy and cloudy ferry journey which meant we both got off a little pinker than we were when we got on... So we arrive back to phuket to a mini bus to take us to the hotel we'd booked for a night near phuket airport, we go to the airport to drop some other people off and head to our hotel, or so we think...the taxi driver and the lady helping him have NO idea where it is!! So I have to get my phone out so they can ring it, even then it doesn't work and we're driving around aimlessly for about 15 minutes or so and we stumble upon it, there is a man there to check us in but it's clearly not the bloke I'd emailed as he can't speak a single word of English and my Thai is perhaps worse than his English so we give up trying to communicate and he just gives us the key and shows us to the room! Again it's basic but it's very clean and has tv,a shower that puts out hot water and a fridge so we're very pleased! After settling in we get a knock at the door and its the man who was supposed to be checking us in asking for payment, what a nice guy he was, very apologetic about not being there to check us in, apparently the man who did was his dad! Not really much else to tell for today! Off to Malaysia now!!!
