short blog this time. Today hada nice lay in (at 10euro a night its a bargain) then went into town to checkout the Vatican. I know this place is massive and all, but at like 11euro to get in one part, and 12 eurp another, 3 euro another the cost can soon mount. Thus today we just went around it and inside the free bits, which as nice as they were, were sadly lost on us having been spoiled with Europes finests buildings over the last month. Churches, fountains, parks... meh... all the same!
Yeah so it may be the center of Christendom and all, it was good at least i can say ive been there. however, having been there and seen the thousands of tourists i couldnt help but think for a moment how much more of a tourist attraction this was than a religious site. Perhaps reading Dan Browns Angels and Demons has tainted my view of Catholisism, but ive always thought just how powerful it was for the Catholic church to have a real life (alive) figuredhead for their denomination - now my religous knowledge is serverly tainted; unless you wanna know about the five pillars of islam (having been eduated in england and all!), but does the bible state much about a pope? seems to me more like marketting!
tomorrow is our last full day where we plan to see the inside of the colleseum then perhaps checkout a few more sights like the parks, maybe even a dip in the campsites very nice swimming pool should the weather be nice!
enjoyed another nice meal with kate tonight at the sites restaurant, pasta x2 of various sorts including bread and half litre of wine for around €19, always feels ok to spend liek this when accomadation is €10pp cheaper a night than everywhere else.
As i speak we are booking one further night here, then the day after tomorrow we head to la cique terre for 2 nights, then Venice for 3nights and Florence 4nights, After this we shall be hitting up eastern Europe perhaps with a brief stop in Austra and or Switzerland depending on how convenient it seems nearer the time.
Mat out
