just a really quick blog, arrived safe in Milan after the train broke down!!!
the hotel is about 40mins out of the center but i found it fine after a bit of cobbled Italian. After checkin i dumped my stuff and went down town to check things out as quickyl as possible as im only here for this evening and leave in the morning.
Its pretty cool, but forgive my laid back approach when i say its the usual big fancy buildings, cathedrals and shops. Im getting pretyt bored of the same old. I did find a Macdonalds right opposite Prada and Louis Vuiton and loads of expensive restaurants in a big expensive shopping plaza. So i just couldnt help but get one, there i was with my 6Euro meal listening to this classical pianist opposite people paying over 20euro for a starter pasta. it was pretty neat really!
I walked around the streets as quickly as possible after my maccy d and had to stop for sum real itallian gelato (ice cream) which was good, but very simiolar to the great stuff we have been sampling elsewhere, i think Europe on the whole has good ice cream and myself a very good eye for good ice cream too=)
Looking forward to 10euro a night in Rome where i think i will prolly hang for a bit before maybe Venice, la cinque-terre and then to eastern europe when my Interrail pass runs out on the 12th. I wont renew it instead ill do the Eastern Europe thing as its cheaper there also. maybe manage to cram in Switzerland and Austria before that as its neatly en route.
Im pretty tired a lot of the time tho now and always hungry, i just cant seem to fill up on anything its well annoying. I guess the decent meals in restaurants seem too expensive for me and cooking a good one myself isnt an option when often there is no cookin facilities or no oven and constraints like Southern Europes seemingly dislike for mince beef.
was fun on the train i was supprised for the first time to be the translater on the train, between two US resident phillipinos, one french woman, an italian, chinese and a US guy. None of them knew any other language they kept asking me to translate for them! it was great, i wish i could properly speak other languages and converse with everyone!
The hotel room is the nicest i stayed in thus far, and i got an en suite with shower which im guna go take advantage of now before settling down to an early night, TV and maybe a beer from the bar!
in fact, sounds fun. im guna go do that now.
Ciao!
