I'm a blob of mush, so sad to be leaving the Maldives. It is absolute perfection here and I can't believe 7 days have blown by so quickly:(
On our last full day in Medhufushi we started off with complimentary honeymoon massages from our same girls from earlier in the week. Why does my normal day at home not start off with a complimentary massage?
After being pampered for a bit and relaxing on the lounge chairs we went island hopping. Our boat today was so cool, a definite party boat. We first visited Naalaafushi (fisherman's island) and then Muli (the capital of Medhufushi's atoll). When we were in Muli we got to visit the local island school, it was so cool to walk in and out of all the classrooms. At one point I saw a cloze passage on a student's desk that was written in English. All around the school were English phrases as motivators like: The pen is mightier than the sword, practice makes perfect, and no pain no gain. The children ran the streets in their soccer uniforms, I know the predominate faith here is islamic but I think a close second is "football" with kids scribbling the Fifa World Cup insignia on the backs of their papers and on the walls of their homes.
When we returned to Medhufushi our waiter for the week Majid made us hand made palm creatures to take home with us. We will get to say good bye to him in the morning. He is excited about tomorrow because he gets to go home to his wife and daughter for a week of leave. He works two months on Medhufushi and gets one week off.
We catch our sea plane tomorrow morning at 6:35 a.m. to Male, and then off to a connection in Dubai. From Dubai who knows, well actually I know, but I'm not telling until we get there. The only clue I will give is it is my dream place, the place I'm always reading about, the place I've always wanted to go. Also, it is the place that my neighbor Joel guessed we were going at our Bridal cookout which earned him a bottle of champagne that will be delivered as soon as we get home.
