We were off to the Colesseum first thing this morning after breakfast in the garden. The Colesseum is probably about 10 blocks from our hotel and the line to get in was pretty manageable. We spent about two hours listening to the audio tour, taking pictures, and saying wow then we were off to lunch. We had pizza with spicy salami and our old stand by bruschetta. For the walk to Trajan's market we had a little gelato:) I had biscotti and cream...yummmm. We then walked all through Trajan's market and it was really cool to see how the archeologists pieced together their finds to reconstruct major elements of the time.
From there, Wes headed to the conference for some Planet talk and I headed back to the hotel for a shower and a Roman Nap.
In the evening I spent an hour or so in the grove attached to the University where Wes's conference is being held reading my book before we met up with some friends and headed to Piazza Farnese for some dinner. I had penne all'arrabiata and Wes had some crazy pasta with bacon, pepper, and goat cheese. For dessert.....you guessed it, gelato. Menta with chocolate chips!!!
