Another day at sea Topping up The tan. Its a struggle but someones got to do it. Played a couple of games of crib with new friends and that was really relaxing. Pam had her toes done and is contemplating some expensive detox programme, as she explained this to me she was sipping on a coke and pondering lunch followed by a piña colada.
We have now turned West and have started to progress along the north coast of Australia towards Darwin. There is no land visible now. Weather remains unchanged 32 and humid, I find I can cope with it as long as I have a supply of Stella in the afternoons and a snooze at about 5 pm.
The sea has turned from turquoise to a deep dark blue, we have left the shallow waters protected by the barrier reef and are in the Torres straights between australia and Papua new Guinea, there is noes slight swell and strong currents but it's still very comfortable. It was interesting today watching the ship sail through tropical rain showers, you can see them as clear as day approaching and they are very heavy but fortunately for us they only last about five minutes and then it's back to bright sunshine.
Word of the day gluttony: exhausted lying in the sun I haul Myself inside to have a cool glass of water. I'm off to the gym at 5 so I am avoiding alcohol or food for a while.
Not so for many cruisers. As I sit here sipping my water it turns 3 pm that is the time for afternoon tea. There is a rush I can feel the draft as at least 50 old timers move in from outside faster than I have seen any of them move all day. Mindful that this is only 2 hours after many of them had lunch they now set about the cake stands with the ferocity of a great white in a pool of blood. They emerge from the melee sporting broad smiles as they proudly display the glazed Danish that they covet so much. The average girth of this group must be 50". Trouble is that either this sickness - as that is surly what it is - may spread to us or allows us to feel in good shape despite our own increasing dimensions. I hope that it serves as a warning as to What could happen to you if you relax toooooo much!
