Well I must start this entry with our first trial of he holiday. With adventures like this there are bound to be some setbacks. Well having bound out of Bed this morning snorkel in one hand and towel and sunscreen in the other the captain announced we were not being allowed to stop at yorkies k*** and swim on the reef because the australian customs could not properly manage our disembarkation. This is all due to the drugs previously found on board In San Francisco. The Aussies have now marked this voyage's card so wherever we go we are under extra scrutiny. So far there have been three arrests but the searches continue they must fancy there is more on board somewhere. If they look in our room they would find a host of anti biotic medicine and looking at the average age on the ship the problem the customs must have is discerning all the prescription drugs from the narcotics!
That disappointment behind us the captain cruised all around the barrier reef in and out of the islands as close as he was allowed. All said and done it was really beautiful the different colours of the sea and the small crops of mangrove islands. It actually looked like I imagine the cambodian islands to look. We are all hopeful that we will be allowed to land at Darwin and explore the rain forests. Watch this space. If we are not allowed on shore at Darwin I think they should rename this vessel 'The Bounty'.
As the day went on the climate changed the temperature rose to 32 and it got more humid. The costal beeches changed to deep green rainforest right up to the shore. We travel north all
Day along the York peninsular to the very top of Australia. There is hardly a breath of wind. We haven't seen any wildlife or whales etc but there is plenty of time. I am Amazed at the amount of islands up here there are hundreds of them and they all look like you could host I'm a celebrity on any of them.
The dancing lessons are a real struggle I seem to be dancing with someone else's feet. We continue to persevere it may get easier.
Today we had lunch with a Welsh couple who were convinced that Wendy was not only Australian but that she had quite a strong Australian accent. She was well pleased with that and I know it will make our kids laugh out loud!
Dinner was huge as usual and was followed by a four tops tribute band. They were great, but they must have felt a bit conspicuous as the only black. Men on a ship of 2000.
