Day 6- Anaheim- L.A/Hollywood/Santa Monica- Vegas
So today I didn't wake up in the best of moods- grouchy was quite possibly an understatement so sorry guys, I was crazy tired from yesterday's adventures around Disney and could have done with the day in bed to rest and feel better, after a sleep on the tour bus from Santa Monica around places like Beverly hills and Rodeo Drive- I was feeling much better and acting more like a 22 year old rather than a overtired child. Bethan and Darren went to the sea and put their feet in the pacific and walked along the Baywatch beach before we jumped on the tour bus.
I there for missed some of the tour as I was sleeping but did wake up for the end of the first tour and was awake for the whole of the second tour which took us around Hollywood and pointing out where the stars liked to hang out and where movies had been shot. I have to say that I was really impressed by Hollywood- when we visited 10 years ago we were told you can walk a block that way, 2 ways that way and don't go that way around the Chinese theater, the area had been really deprived and really run down, however now its as if the community have claimed it back- businesses are open and the area looks so much nicer than it use to- it looks a lot closer to the Hollywood that you would expect, there we lots of street artists dressed up as film characters that you could pay to have your photo taken with, we stopped for lunch and visited Jonny Rockets where Darren let down his American persona as he was unable to finish his milkshake as it was too thick and filling as well as being quite sweet. After filling up on food we went back on the tour bus to head back to the pier to start our backwards route 66 journey as it runs from Chicago to LA, rather than the other way round.
It was around 5 by the time we left for Las Vegas and we certainly hit L.A's rush hour traffic with it taking an hour and 45 mins to travel just 12 miles!!! We were basically sat in a free car park- luckily the sat nav installed on David's phone re-directed us onto a different route or raute as the Americans say once that had all cleared and then it was open road and as the 8pm window had defiantly passed it was then a case of pulling in for gas-toilet and snack before hitting the road for the remaining hours to Vegas where we are staying at the Luxor for 2 nights, we finally arrived at the hotel at around 11.30 where we made our way to the check in desk realizing how big everything was in Vegas again, at the desk they said there weren't any rooms anywhere near each other in the pyramid part of the Luxor so we have been upgraded and put in the tower it's a really lovely room and has a phone in the bathroom by the toilet we have a view out to Excalibur hotel opposite but we are pretty tired now so going to get into bed so I can sleep!!!!
