We are Sailing
Well Cheryl and I departed Kos at 12 noon today. We had a great breakfast with the crew, and then it was time to pack the cases. The cases' waistline had grown as much' as ours. But finally we got the last zip done up. A quick visit to the Marina Admin to get a cab,'and soon we would be on our way. Kostos the Kamikaze Kab driver turned up 10 minutes early. Now that makes a change for Greece! We said all our goodbyes, and I must admit it was sad having to leave. It has been such a great trip. Well we were on our way to the airport, and this bloke was had to be Nikki Lauders relative. Fortunately this was a bonus, as some clown in a very fancy Mercedes decided to pull and and pass 1/2 a dozen cars on a hill and a bend. Kostos did very well, but clearly he was shaken, as he managed a couple hail Marys, and a quick grasp of his St Christopher. The rest of the 35 min trip was quite sedate after all that. We made it to the Kos Airport at around 12.40 pm, in plenty of time to catch the plane to Athens. Kos airport reminded me of Perth Airport circa 1966, except that Perth Airport Was in much better condition. Checking in, and getting through to the departure lounge was interesting to say the least. I still do not understand why we need to produce our passports? Cheryl managed to enjoy the Duty Free, and buy a pair of genuine D&G sunglasses, to replace the fake D&G's she has been wearing. Finally it was time to hop on the plane. We could see the plane, parked 15 metres (at a stretch) from the departure lounge doorway. It was the ONLY plane in the whole airport. Now wait for it..........they brought this great big airport bus in to pick up all the passengers. (what thuh?) it then did a half circle and delivered us to the other side of the plane! I simply could not believe it. Never mind,w we got on the plane, a Bombardier, made in the USA.'Twin prop. The flight was very comfortable, and quiet. I was able to see some of the Islands we had visited,'particularly Syros, where the channel we negotiated could be clearly seen. We eventually arrived in Athens at around 3.00 pm. We picked up our luggage,'and headed for the Sofitel,'where we had booked in. After going through the formalities, Cheryl and I headed downstairs for a few drinks. We came back up for a quick nap,'and clean up. We were both very tired (being on holidays is hard work!) so we opted for an early tea at the restaurant at the top of the Hotel. The food was great. So thats it for today, and I am now going to bed to get a well earned sleep. We have got a 1.00 pm check out tomorrow, which will suit us. We leave for Dubai tomorrow.
