Den on the loose
NZ Day Four Today we left Christchurch for Kaikoura, where we would spend the next two nights there. When we got on the bus that morning we were greeted by our driver called 'Todders' and a packed load of backpackers on the bus wondering why the hell they chose KIWI Experience as it was damn early in the morning to be travelling. First impressions of Kaikoura is that its more of a place for old retired people or people with a second home but regardless it's still a beautiful place and at least the sun was out that day. After settling into our rooms we made our way down to town where we spent the early evening on the beach eating our 'fush and chups.' Tim and i had befriended a a particular seagull which we named as 'Bill' Bill was awesome he had a 3 little brown specks under his left eye so we were able to distinguish him from all the other seagulls. That night on the waterfront was the most i've laughed in a while as we had successfully managed to get Bill drunk on beer soaked chips. It was so damn hilarious as he staggered about in front of us amongst all the other seagulls and at one point he actually started on another seagull because he was getting too close to the 'beer pit of chips' that we laid for him. As most of you know with all beer fuelled situations, you get the symptom of always going to the toilet for a wee-wee in Bill's case he kept going for a Number 2 every five seconds. Oh man it was so funny as he'd walk he would then just stop and then do his business and then walk and then stop and do repeat the process again. That night i had the best sleep since coming to NZ as i had no top bunk bed above me and there were nos snorer's that night.
