The sails went up on our way from Hydra to Poros. A beautiful breeze cooled us off as we have been really over heated with the 30•heat. We passed thru a narrow Chanel to the small island of Poros which was lined with little boats and beautiful white and blue houses rising up the hill. We backed our boat into the Quay and spent the night here. The little cafe right on the street beside our dock was a perfect place for cold beverages and watching the World Cup. As the sun went down we made new friends from Germany and delighted in the many different languages spoken. Canadians apparently don't sail in Greece often, so people greeted us warmly.
Unfortunately Chris had a terrible case of food poisoning: octopus 1-chris 0. This was not a highlight for us but thankfully it passed quickly. The next morning we rehydrated and wandered up to the clock tower on the hill-every small town it seems has one. The view was stunning, and along the way discovered fruit from orange trees, lemons, figs and blooming cactus flowers. This little island is right across from the Peloponnese peninsula so there is a lot of day trippers coming for the quaint town. Onward we go now to the ancient theatre at Epidavrus and the birthplace of Zeus.
