Things I have learnt so far!

1) when they say the surf is ok only 5ft they mean its 12ft and crazy

2) an iguana will live on your roof and when the morning birds annoy it, mr iguana runs around like crazy making alot of noise!

3) you will get biten by insects you dont even see... im at 34 on my legs and counting... ants are the worst

4) that nearly all costa rica's national surf team live in Jaco... pressure or what

5) Surfing in the sun sounds like a glamorous past time but it is LIES!!! We are not all Alana Blanchard or Malia Manuel perfectly riding waves hair done, tan perfect and bikini perfectly placed! Let me tell you the reality! Matted hair, exhausted arms, continuously being beaten up by waves like youve been thrown into a washing machine, bikini untying its self or hanging half off, salt water in your eyes, up your nose and in your mouth, no matter how much sun cream you lather on you end up with a burnt back which makes sleeping difficult! I have come to conclude that walking down the beach with a surf board is the glamour in the water it is just human versus waves and hands down the waves win every time!!

6) Spanish is a neccesity!!! So I am learning... slowly

7) Tico time - never expect people to be on time

8) Road etiqette when riding a bike - pray and hope no one hits you

9) you get rama tams here!!!!! they call them something beginning with M

10) always pay in cash its cheaper!!
