Backpack Party!!
Hey everybody!!! How are you all?? As always I hope that you are all good!!!
Well, well, where do I begin? I cant really remember where I left off, so I`ll start by telling you that Im not in Rio anymore...gutted! And that I am in Florionapolis!!
We set off on Sunday morning to Curitiba on a 20 hour bus journey and arrived there at about 1 in the morning.
Usefully, I slept for most of it, but for the parts where I was awake, all I could think about was Rio and all the amazing people and things that I have done there, and I was really depressed! Though, I didnt show it to Mum and Paul-like I said, Mum just takes the piss out of me for "loving everywhere I have ever been" and I was too tired to fight back!
Through our tiredness and confusion, we found actually quite a nice Hotel, The Vernon Palace, and I was talking the absolutely most s***est Portuguese to the receptionist because I was tired, and we got all the way to him giving us the keys...then he started to speak in English to me...why the little.....tttsskkkk, I would have swung for him(had I had the energy to even lift my arm...!!!)
Being the backpacker that I am, I sadly get excited about little things like hot running water, and a decent breakfast, so I was almost overwhelmed in the morning when I discoverred both at the hotel...so I decided that the best thing to do whilst the opportunity was available was to eat as much of the breakfast as I possibly could.
(Anybody who has seen me eat a meal will know that I cant actually eat that much before feeling full, so this was a pretty dumb idea...)
Therefore, after 2 plates of scrambled eggs, 2 slices of bread and cheese, 2 pieces of melon, 2 pieces of pineapple, a piece of papaya, a glass of actimel, and oh, yeah, a piece of cake ( yes, there really is cake for breakfast in Brazil!!) I felt rather rough when we set about on our expidition of the city!!
To be honest, I didn`t really find it all that interesting- very clean and all etc etc etc, but perhaps we were looking at the wrong places- I know that my sense of direction aint all that!!
Then we went to bed early, `coz we are sad, and tired.
OOh, I almost forgot to tell you the wierd thing that happenned to me, too!!
We were walking past the Rodavario yesterday morning, and I literally almost bumped into 1 of my friends from Rio called Robin!! He was a fellow volunteer and stayed at the house, too! What are the odds of bumping into somebody you know 20 hours away from Rio, and in big city??? It was just plain frieky!! And, the best thing was, it turns out that he was staying in the first Hotel that we went in, but decided not to take- so we could have actually been staying next door to eachother!! I thought that it was cool, but you are all probably just looking at the screen with a blank expression thinking that I am even more of a geek than you initially thought that I was....
So, anyway, today we have taken the 4 hour trip from Curitiba to Florionapolis, which wasn`t too painful...until I happened to open my eyes at the exact moment that a dead German Shepard was lay at the side of the road, and I wanted to just cry and cry and cry!! You know what Im like about my animals, especially dogs!! It was so sad!
At least this one was newly dead and not decomposing like the one I saw on the highway in Rio, now THAT was nasty.Sorry, I`ll stop going on about it now, it isn`t such a nice subject, I know!!
So, now Im sat in the Pousada in Florionapolis watching Striptease in Portuguese, and Im going to go now.
By the way, I havent actually been Sandboarding, in case you have seen the accompanying pic, I just thought that it was interesting, and it came up as one of the photo options for Brasil. Though, we may be doing that soon, there are Dunes here in Florionapolis! So...watch this space peeps!!
Love you loads and loads!!
Take care everybody- speak to you soon!!
