Today was the first full day in Chiang Mai and we spent it up in the mountains but unfortunately this means rain rain and more rain. Our first activity was mountain biking. Arrived in Chiang Mai today and have just checked into the hotel and it's absolutely lovely! We got a great deal on it because we booked a whole load of things such as cooking, elephants and white water rafting at the same time. Spent yesterday on a tour to Kanchanaburi. Today was spent wandering around old Bangkok, visiting the grand palace, Wat Pho and Wat Pra Kreaw. It probably wasn't the best day to pick though as it was a staggering 38'C and we had to wear a long skirt/ trousers and a long sleeved top and the majority of things were outside in the blaring heat. First day in Bangkok and the only way to describe everything is manic! The driving is indescribable, basically a mixture of if your vehicle will fit through the gap and you're brave enough, then go for it. Crossing the road takes about the same amount of balls too, a game of chicken with every lane. Pedestrian and zebra crossings mean nothing.
