Today was spent wandering around old Bangkok, visiting the grand palace, Wat Pho and Wat Pra Kreaw. It probably wasn't the best day to pick though as it was a staggering 38'C and we had to wear a long skirt/ trousers and a long sleeved top and the majority of things were outside in the blaring heat. Wat Pra Kreaw is the temple of the emerald buddha. The inside of this temple is absolutely beautiful and such a serene room. A completely different site, however, is Wat Po a 50ish foot reclining buddha. What was most impressive to me though was the buildings themselves. Both the grand palace and all the other surrounding buildings were so beautifully decorated. Covered in mosaics of coloured tiles and mirrors that make the whole building glisten and then the painted murals that cover the insides of the buildings, all completed by the hundreds of sculptures of Buddhas and other creatures such as dragons elephants and very odd looking men. All in all such beautiful sites to be seen.
