Hey everyone.
Since my last blog we have done so much, we rented a car and drove from airlie beach to Hervey Bay a gruelling 10 hours, poor Gem wasn't well so got some sleep in the back, we saw numerous dead kangeroos, 2 dingoes and a wombat!!
After a relaxing day in Hervey Bay we headed on a 2 day 4x4 safari to fraser island a sand island just off the coast, we trekked through rain forests and over sand dunes, its an amazing place, we relaxed in the champagne pools, natural rock pools filled will foaming sea water and swam down a freezing fresh water creek. We stayed in accomodation overnight and went to the bar, we were entertained by our guide Terry, a hilarious Crocodile Dundee character who taught us some aussie sayings including AS dry as a dead dingos donger!!
The following day we travelled to lake wabby, sarah managed the hike over the giant sand dune but Gem and I wwere too scared of burning so paddled in the ocean instaed. In the afternioon we spent some time at Lake mackenzie a massive lake filled with rain water it was bliss!!
The next day after a night back at Hervey Bay was awful, we missed the connecting bus so missed out on Steve Urwins Zoo and had to cope with tude of the call centre operator to change our tickets to brisbane. When we got to Brisbane we got to our hostel, it was awful, our room was inhabited by the skankyest girls imaginable, the sheets were nylon and the smell of cheesy feet was disgusting, after afew tears from all sides we did a bunk and booked into the ibis where we enjoyed a much needed bath and inhouse movie, Brisbane was clean but didnt have much to see but the rest in the room was exactly what we needed after a hellish day!!
Next off to Sydney to start our placement with mixed emotions but suppose its the whole point of the trip!!
Hope all is well in Blighty xxx
