After a great river cruise and night out in Clarke quay which involved a bar where the seats were wheelchairs and the drinks came in a drip we reluctantly left Singapore to head to Oz.
The journey was horrific but we eventually landed on Hamilton Island in the Whitsundays, the baggage carousel was outside in the sunshine and we certainly knew we had arrived in paradise. After a good nights sleep we set out on a day trip to the great barrier reef, the scenery on the way was amazing, blue sea and cloudless skies. Gemma and I booked on to go scuba diving, I realise this might be a bit of shock but I was determind to get over my fish phobia, Sarah couldnt go due to asthma!!
We arrived at the alloted time for our dive, we were taken to a platform at chest height and shown how to breath with the apparatus, in typical Vicky and Gemma style we made a right song abd Dance about it, we were proper scared, in the end the nice instructor was replaced with thew bad cop half of the team, after some strong words Gemma entered the depth but it took the poor Guy another 10 minutes and some emotional blackmail to get me under. Thank God he did it was like an underwater forest and the most amazing thing I hac=ve ever done , the fish were all round us and trul;y beautiful, the only hairy moment was the massive fish see pics! The instructoe said after he had never heard someone scream underwater!!! Thanx Stuart, U are my hero!!!
Today we cruised round the Whitsundays, we did some snorkelling (not keen, big mouthfuls of salt water!) We saw a sea turtle and some of the most amazing beaches in the world, cant wait to show you the pics, we got to do a mini bush trek then spend time on the white sand.
Tomorrow we are hiring a car to go to Fraser Island to camp. I am having the best time and I am so proud of all my personal achievements so far, Bring on the bridge!!!!!
Love to u all XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
