We arrived around midday on the train from Milan and dropped off our bags at the hostel before going for an explore. Some lunch and cold beers was high on a agenda after this and it our toughest challenge was finding somewhere in the shade to eat. Tourists seemed to override the streets. We checked in and then headed out to see Piazza San Marco, do some people watching and have a delicious pizza and carbonara for dinner.
The next day after a hot night and plenty of mosquito bites for Van we made our way back to Piazza San Marco to have a look in the Bascilica. It started pouring down on the way there so instead of queuing we had a coffee and scone in Caffe Florion which opened around 290 years ago and then started queuing. Unfortunately it started raining again but we didn't have to wait long. After wandering around the Bascilica for a few hours we headed back to the hostel for a chillax and to pack for an all nighter at the Venice airport. We managed to sneak in an overpriced gondola ride before our last delicious Italian meal and then it was a ferry to the airport for an attempt at sleep before our 6am flight to Split.
