Hi all,
Finally got some time to sit down and update the blog to let you all know where we are at and what has been happening!
So I'm going to begin with:
Wednesday: on Wednesday morning we found out rather suddenly that we were going to be leaving the farm that afternoon instead of the following day which we had all thought. So at about 3pm we (Sam, Camila, Giulia and myself) set off to Cascavel airport. We were driven their by one of the lead farm workers. This took about three and a bit hours. Upon arrival to the airport, we found out that our plane was delayed by over an hour and a half. We checked ourselves in and then went and found a place to eat. Awhile later we came back to the airport to be told that our plane still hadn't arrived. Once through security and sat at the gate, a plane landed...which still wasn't ours!!
After what seemed like forever, a plane landed that was ours and the turn around was pretty quick. Two hours in the air and we landed at about midnight at Gru airport. Of course our luggage was the last to leave the plane; we trooped outside to get a cab to take us back to Gisela's house in São Paulo. We arrived back at the house a little after 1am - completely shattered! Needless to say, a huge lie in followed...
Thursday: well Thursday morning was a complete write off! We didn't even surface much before lunch time. The afternoon allowed us to go into the city to trek around finding somewhere to change our money. Geraldo (Gisela's driver) took us around until we had completed our task. A lazy evening followed and then an early night!
Friday: we decided on getting a bit of culture, and settled for a morning trip into São Paulo to visit the Pinacoteca (an art museum). Geraldo drove us there and we lost ourselves amongst various sculptures and paintings. Sam and I enjoyed the British paintings the most - it was nice recognising lots of well known places like Box Hill, Brighton Pier and London Bridge. I bought a book to read up on more of the art in the museum as we didn't have time to see and read it all.
In the afternoon, myself, Sam, Gisela and Maria travelled to the Municiple Market where Gisela gets most of her food shopping from. This was basically a slightly smaller version of Borough Market in London. The sights and smells were interesting if not a bit odd in places! I was happy to locate some chocolate covered peanuts which didn't last very long!
Friday night was really good as we went to the local theatre as Gisela had got us all tickets to see 'Cirque de Plume'. An alternative circus show piece that featured dance variations, music, gymnastics, music and movement, drama and comedy all rolled into one. Although the dialogue was lost on Sam and I the actual physical aspect of the show was incredible. The show was extremely basic in terms of stage, props etc but the skills each performer had really brought the show to life. We all really enjoyed ourselves, even though it didn't start till 9.30pm (!) and got to back after midnight. Some friends of their family joined us and it was good to meet them.
Right, that has brought me more up to date with our adventures and I shall fill you in on the next part asap!
Don't forget to leave us messages, it would be nice to hear from you!
Lots of love,
Donna xxxx

Steve Sounds fabulous. Apart from the plane trips. That sounds annoying. Have you had unusual foods yet? Has Sam been trying to absorb the Brazilian football culture?...
Sam More exotic foods than you can shake a stick at. Football fix hopefully to come with Maracana stadium tour in Rio and a visit to a São Paulo FC match, as well as the museum at the Pacembau stadium in SP :-)
