I hop on the night train to Surat Thani with Ben and Irina and we travel directly across to Krabi on the Andaman Sea, west side of the Thai peninsula. I spend the first two nights outside the town at 'The Bananas' jungle hut resort. It's beautifully isolated, surrounded by a forest of coconut trees, shallow waters and the same sheer limestone cliffs we all know from the film 'The Beach'. The place is very chilled so we are forced to kick back and relax in a hammock and is run by an extremely happy, camp German expat called Ollie who's been living in Thailand for 15 years. The atmosphere is open and friendly with collective meals and an honesty policy. There are wild monkeys living in the trees, spiders with a leg span bigger than my fist and webs that span across bungalows. I meet lots of interesting people, take my first ride on the back of a motorbike and finally find the secret beach with Irina and a very cool Russian couple from Moscow.
