Well it's been a week since I last wrote in that time the neck actually got worse so i have had to lay off any grappling and I have only been doing private Muay Thai lessons and weights everyday, the colloidal silver seemed to have worked on my ankle because it is back to normal. It sucks that most of my time here I had some type of injury to keep me from full time training but what I have learnt has been invaluable and I know will improve my allround game. I love my kicking Dang really makes me do heaps of powerful kicks and he makes me do hundreds of situps a day. I noticed that I have a sixpack coming through theres just a pillow on top of it that i need to getrid of but that is gradually fading away but i will have to keep it up back in Australia. Im looking forward to the caveman workouts that i do with Buster and Nate back in Aussie as well, at Tiger we don't have all the same equipment that I use at home. Looking forward to tomorrow I have a sparring session with a guy that is fighting on the weekend so it should be fun. On Saturday and Sunday I went a did my advanced open water scuba course all up I did 5 dives during the 2 days at 4 different sites amongst the islands surrounding Phuket, the diving was really good especially when I dived at the bottom of this island that is a rock sticking out of the sea, the typical type of island you see in the brochures and movies. There was a cave that we swam into and I saw a sea snake that my instructor gave me the deadly sign by running his thumb across his throat. I gotta say though that there was definitely a lack of big fish at every dive site, in Australia i see massive fish all the time but in Phuket i saw none at all maybe they have been overfished, my instructor also said theres nearly no sharks left either because they all been caught for shark fin soup. After diving on Sunday I took a ride up the mountain to the Big Buddha it is gigantic and they have been building it for years, all the money used for it has come by donation, from the top you can see the eastern and western side of Phuket.
On Monday we went to Patong Stadium to watch our friend Cash fight, He came out in the first going really hard looking for the quick knockout but the guy he was fighting was a Frenchman and did well to block and move out of the way. In between rounds I put 500Baht on Cash to win hoping that he wouldnt Gas, about 10 seconds into the 2nd round Cash through a right cross and pulled his shoulder out so that was the end of that and my 500Baht. That experience came as a warning that if you fight in Thailand you take huge risks, there was no doctor and no one from our camp knew what to do either then one of the trainers sort of guessed and popped it back in then they didnt even take him to hospital, i saw him today and asked how the shoulder was he said it's still sore but he hadnt gone to the doctor, we all thought he was crazy so tomorrow he is going to the hospital to get it checked. After the fights we went to Bangla road and had an awesome night at the Tiger discotech where I got hustled by the bar girl playing connect four, she let me win the first few games then said if she win i buy her a drink so confident I was like yeah, then she wasted me and got the most expensive drink they give you a bill and you pay it but there smart because they don't put alcohol in there drink they just make you think they have. Today i went to the Chalong Wat Temple they say if you don't visit it you have not been to Phuket, it was pretty awesome the paintings and statues they have and you can go all the way to the top of the temple, there was actually about 4 main temples and then little ones around the grounds. While there I finally found out what the machine gun sound that I hear everynight is, they throw fire crackers into this huge beehive looking thing with lost of pipes in it. Today is also Ronnie's birthday all the boys are going out to Patong again but im gonna stay in i already wasted the day yesterday because we went out on Monday night. Im really hoping that by Friday I can at least get back to full training for Friday and Saturday, just to learn a few more grappling techniques would be awesome. Im really looking forward to going home and seeing the Family but at the same time I don't want to leave I know next time I will be staying for longer so I'll probably have to bring the whole family with me, today Dang asked why I didnt bring them i told him i came to train he said next time I have to bring them all. Funny place Thailand though all the weird stuff you don't see in Australia or New Zealand like 4 people on a scooter including a baby, or a scooter with a homemade looking side car and a deckchair in it with the whole family piled inside i mean like Father Mother and 3 or 4 kids, also you see a ute with about 15 people on the back but the funny thing is you can do that but if you get caught inside a car with no seatbelt you get a 2000Baht fine that you must pay immediately. On the way to Patong the other night we got pulled over by the police for a licence check Lachy didnt have his so he got a 300Baht fine that he had to pay straight away, we waited about an hour for him because the line was so big and there was only one person serving. Another thing that happened was we were in a Taxi and stopped for fuel the cabby didnt even turn his car off while the attendant filled it up, or you see Hot grill carts on scooters with food on the grill cooking while there driving the construction workforce is about 50% woman and everyone wears sandles while building they don't use welding helmets to weld or any eye ear or any protection at all while operating power tools, there scaffolding is Bamboo, no earthmoving equipment everything done by shovel. Some of the places I go to like the Rasta bar look dangerous in some parts, if too many people were to stand on it it would come down for sure, i don't think they have any building code or inspectors you look at the support beams of some places and they are literally made with branches from the forest out the back just tied or nailed together, it reminds me of when I used to build cubbies when i was a kid. Basically the whole life style is like that here "no worries man it's alright" I was told that the way they are is because there Buddhist and Karma is a big thing here, there is no starvation even though there are lots of poor people because they always help each other out so when they die they come back as a Butterfly and not a rat. Well thats enough for now Im off to Tonys for a feed.
