Had the worst sleep last night that massage did nothing for my neck and shoulder so I couldnt get in a comfortable position all night so I ended up not doing any classes in the morning but instead went to Chalong to find a proper masseuse.
I googled it and found a few tips so I went down this street where some people recommended and found a massage place but it was the first of its type that i had seen, it was a bar and a dive shop and a beauty salon and a massage parlour all in one. Ive heard a few stories about the massage parlours around here so i made it clear i needed someone to fix my neck and shoulder then i was led upstairs into a room that didnt have a massage table but instead a double bed, this old lady comes in and fixes my neck and shoulder I was really relieved to get someone that knew how to fix me so next time i have any problems ill be going back there.
Feeling good again i went to my private session with Kru Dan who gave me a confidence booster and said I must move into the intermediate Muay Thai class then he got me warming up, i swear he doesnt look at the clock when he assigns me drills it feels like im doing it for ages i keep wondering when can i stop. He gets me on the skipping rope that isnt a rope instead its a piece of really thick hose that is quite heavy and when it hits your toes you really feel it, after what felt like 10 minutes he comes over and i think im finished skipping then he says 3 more minutes. After warm up we start pad work and he teaches me some slipping and weaving techniques as well as revising what we done yesterday but today he starts hitting me in the head hard when my guard is down and spontaneously kicking me in the ribs just after i finish a combo, the rounds are getting longer also the first one was 10 minutes non-stop but i find myself to be able to get through them with not much trouble. Being in a place like this where the whole street is made for fighters and everyone around you is pushing themsleves hard makes it easier for me to continue when i feel like giving up and now my mindset has changed to dont contemplate stopping until im told too. This was made easier for me though with my preparation back in Australia training everyday with Buster, i set a goal back then to arrive in Thailand already fit so i can concentrate on technique rather than getting in shape. At the end of the session I do about 250 situps then I lie on my back with while Kru Dan hits my guts with the medicine ball 60 times, he doesnt do it light either everytime it hits i breathe out sometimes i miscalculate and he catches me with no breath but he continues until i have done 60 and tomorrow will be 70 and 10 more everyday from here on.
After Muay Thai we had a seminar striking for MMA with Kru Ash from Canada he trains some UFC fighters including working with GSP, he showed us some really good boxing technique that I know I will be adding to my arsenal, it was a pretty light workout compared to all the other sessions I do as it concentrated on correctly performing what we were shown instead of hard sparring or cardio.
So now im glad that im not sore and I have a comfortable pillow its still early and I should get a good nights sleep ready for MMA in the morning.
