Hello Americans,
Brr! We woke up to a very cold weather. We packed up our bags before the breakfast. The dining room lights in the hotel kept turning on and off by itself, again and again… definitely not deaf friendly, you know, we're moths, always attracted to the lights. The provided breakfast was just pancakes. After breakfast, we got in 3 different vehicles to get us started for the day. Our first stop was at natural geysers. It looks like it is erupting smoke. Its eruption contains sulfur and it also can create geothermal energy. Lot of smoke flew right by our eyes!
Secondly, we once again got in our vehicles to get us to hot springs. We immediately got in the hot springs once we arrived because outside was pretty cold. The water was naturally hot! Most of us have sunburn so it was pretty painful when we downed ourselves in the water. After 30 seconds, the water became warm to us. We swam there like we are in heaven! Unluckily, we only had 45 minutes, so we had to get out to dry off then get in the vehicle again.
On the road, we were on way to white and green lagoons. The green lagoon was colored green as a result of mixing 2 different chemicals in there. The white lagoon caused color itself white by containing lot of calcium in there. It also has lot of lava black rocks everywhere just outside of the lake. The rocks came from volcano eruption thousand years ago.
Next, we drove to a place for a lunch. We first saw llamas roaming around the grasses nearby our lunch. There were no fence but the llamas stay together and act as if there were some kind of boundary they can't get across. We also saw a stray dog chasing down one sheep out of grasses area. A dog tried to bite the sheep a couple of time. Both of them were running all around. Until that point, we saw a dog coming back but we never saw that sheep again. We also saw same dog chasing other sheep in grass area. We stopped watching because we have to go in one of "house" for a lunch. The lunch was simple. It was ham, cheese, salami, bread, and vegetables. We ate most what were on our plates. Then, we went to our 5th stop.
Fifth, we stopped at Katal place. Katal is a wetland, or a swamp. It also has black lagoon in it. We saw lot more of llamas and birds in there. The black lagoon is exactly middle of the Katal. The black color itself is caused by the rotten plants in it. The black lagoon is special because fishes live there; not many fishes live in lagoons. So birds usually prey around the black lagoons and hunt the fishes to eat. The grass was soggy because water almost everywhere underneath. We left our last landmark sighting in Uyuni.
Lastly, we went to the airport to fly back to La Paz. We were doing our stuff in the plane like writing journals, doing our vlog and blog. We arrived La Paz with a dark sky outside. We had a very late dinner at a restaurant here in the hotel. The dinner was good. We ate everything what we ordered. That sums up our 17thday in Bolivia!
Good night Americans,
Zarek
