Howdy Americans,
After a long weekend in La Paz, we all woke up with eagerness because it's the day to go to AMAZON RAINFOREST! However, we still have two more deaf schools to visit. As soon as we finished our breakfast, we were on our way to the first deaf school of the day.
At the first deaf school, we were able to meet several students. We also met two same deaf persons from La Paz deaf club last night. At that school, they provided sewing class for high school students. Majority of their students were elementary kids. Also that deaf school is in a house rather than an official school campus, mainly due to the government's grant budget to that school. So the "school building" contains kitchen, rooms, bathrooms, etc. After the deaf school, we went to one small bakery. We all ordered different kind of cake, donut and etc.
Eventually, we arrived second deaf school of the day. It was also the last deaf school of the trip. The second deaf school is called Effeta School for the Deaf. The deaf school is very strong bilingual-based school, as it teaches Spanish and LSB sign language. Also all teachers and staffs use LSB. That school has total of thirty-two students. All students are very poor, so staff decided to establish that deaf school for poor students. All teachers and staffs work voluntary. They all cherish poor deaf students' education. Also the principal of that school is fluent in LSB and assumes a role of a teacher too! It definitely was awesome and strong deaf school in Bolivia!
We all didn't want to leave the deaf school but, at one point or another we all had to leave. Once we left, we went back to our hostel to get our bags and went to airport. We had our lunch at the airport, some students ate at Chinese restaurant, others ate at Xpress. It was a hamburger restaurant. It was definitely delicious meal. We waited few hours for our plane. Once we got on the plane, it was less that forty-five minutes long to Rurrenabaque.
We went from cold to hot weather in just seconds once we got out the plane. Within ten minutes, we already got several bug bites. At that very moment, we all knew that we are actually here in the Amazon Rainforest! We all got in van and went to our hotel named Pahuichi. We are going to stay here for one night before going to Madidi National Park. Once we put our bags in our rooms. We all went up to the top floor of the hotel. The view of river and mountains is very surreal and amazing. Yeah, of course, we all had to take a lot of pictures.
After that, we walked around the town to search for a place to have our dinner. We settled on a place that has pool tables, foosball and dart target. We all ate various types of meal. We also competed in those games. After the amazing dinner, we all went back to hotel and went to sleep thinking that we all can't wait to go to the forest for next three days. Tomorrow, adventurous day begins!

Claire Bugen Can't wait to see your pictures from the top floor of the hotel! I hope you have a fabulous adventure in the Rain Forest. I hope you stay dry and avoid the mosquitos and see LOTS of great animals.
