Hello human beings,
In the early morning, we had to get up for our long day; we were eating our delicious breakfast. After that, we were ready to go for our long road trip! "TWO HOURS!?!?" was my first thought when I realized that was how far Tiwanaku is.
We were on the road and it was in middle of nowhere, we saw parts of slums and many animals roaming around, even including stray dogs. During two hour drive, the mountains were visible in 360 degrees so we can enjoy staring those beautiful mountains! The driver spotted the tribe, Amyara; they were celebrating and dancing on the side of road. So our driver decided to pull over and allow us join them to celebrate their culture. They wore very colorful clothes and bowler hats. We danced with them and it was so amazing experience to be part of other tribe's celebration, and Amayaras welcomed us to join them to celebrate.
Finally, we have arrived Tiwanaku! Tiwanaku is one of the famous landmarks in Bolivia. At first we went to a museum and saw some interesting ancient remains like Pachomama. Pachomama is the goddess of the mother nature. Interesting fact about Pachomama: she likes to eat white llama, drink alcohol, and growing crops. After museum, we went to the top of the hill and to have the view of Gate of the Sun. And it was very exhausting because we were up in high altitude, so it's very thin air here. We walked around the hill, of course we took too many pictures because the view was amazing! Significant history behind the Gate of the Sun was Incas made this gate for summer solstice, so sun will shine through "the gate" during longest solstice which is June 21. We literally spent about three hours at Tiwanaku.
After Tiwanaku, we went to Cholitas wrestling, and it was so fun to watch them wrestle! Even thought it looked so fake and scripted, but at same time but it was really fun to watch!! While men wrestled, it was so so so awesome and better than women wrestling because it was a lot more action packed than women wrestling. Cholitas wrestling is for women who are struggling in their personal life like being in a domestic violent relationship, single mother, and more things, so they want to express their feelings in the ring. Also the proceeds of wrestling goes out to help those women who are struggling. Also Cholitas is an insult word for Mestizo womens who are mixed Indians and Mexicans. Also there are other insult word for men, Cholitos. Indigenous is preferred word for mestizo people. After the wrestling, we went to Burger King as our fast dinner because it was so late to go out restaurant. After dinner, we went straight to hotel because we were so exhausted from our long day!
See y'all tomorrow!
