Consdering we were driving right by Crater Lake we stopped and checked it out. It still has over 15 foot walls of snow on either side of the wall. nothing has changed since the last time I was here. Still Cold. We took some pictures, conquered some parking lots and got off the volcano.
On our way down the hill we decieded to market our '20 day abs' program which is comprised of:
not enough sleep, limited calorie intake, ample exercise, and excessive laughter for a duration of 20 days.
Our tear inducing giggle fest of 25 minutes followed us back to the warmth of lower elevation.
I drove throught the twisting roads of Northern California in the dark. I swear they have super reflective paint on the signs in California. As we reached Crescent City, CA I could see the ocean on the GPS. I banged a quick right and parked in a beach lot where we ran down to the Pacific Ocean. It was low tide so it took a while to get our toes in the water.
IT"S OFFICIAL, WE MADE IT ACROSS THE COUNTRY!
A group of people were having a fire on the beach and yelled for us to come have a beer with them, a very easy request at the end of a six hour drive. We received some valuable information from the local Home Depot employees about where to go while we were here and made our way to Jedediah Smith Redwoods State Park. We arrived at the campground and the world of redwood majesty took hold when MB found a slug the side of an italian sausage. I can not wait to see the redwoods in the day time!
