I'm back in Dubling again at UCD! =)
Our presentation went very well yesterday. I was mildly worried no one would show up from the hospital, but a good 15-20 people did! The first group did their MRSA power point and then my group did our skit. It was a good nurse vs. bad nurse type skit. Juner was the bad nurse and he was incredibly funny- stole the show if you ask me. Hehe.
Afterwards I read for a couple hours. I didn't have anything to do, and we're not supposed to be out and about on our own (annoying). I'm already halfway through Desperation by Stephen King- really good and I'm pretty sure it's another one of the books with atleast minor connections to Dark Tower and possibly It.
Anyway, I got bored reading... I felt like I should be socializing before people got to thinking I'm a social leper or something. So I walked over to the apartments and hung out with the Samuel Merritt group and Claire. We drank lots of wine, and got somewhere between buzzed and drunk. Then a good chunk of the rest of my classmates came over around 10pm to drag us out downtown. So we all went, but ended up splitting once we got down there. The Samuel Merritt group went off for Chinese food, and then I'm not sure where else. Claire and Markus went to a pub called Shoot the Crows. They were playing live traditional music, and I thought about staying but it was packed solid with old people and it was REALLY hot in there. So I left with Lillianna, Bijal, Doreatha, and Julieta to try and find somewhere else with music. No one else had the live traditional music as far as we could tell, but we saw dressed up people going into someplace that looked like a hotel from the outside and turned out to be a club on the inside. So we hung out there- I was hungry and my stomach wasn't happy about the wine without having food there as well, so Julieta kindly escorted me to a pizza place. Then we went back and I ended up dancing at a club for the second time in my life. lol. Being almost sober at that point, the club was not as much fun. It was a lot of fun when they had the strobe light, smoke and good music going... probably would have been better if I had more to drink... because I'd be less self-conscious. I'm not a dancer- lol. BUT, half the people there weren't much better than I was, and so what if I dance like crap in front of the Irish? We'll never see each other again, and they can easily pass me off as a weirdo American or something.
Today we drove back to Dublin, but we detoured down south to Galway first. We got to spend 2 hours there, but we really didn't get to do much by the time people finished eating. A little disappointing because I wanted to experience the personality of Galway- seafood, ocean and claddagh rings. It's just hard having to travel in groups because I'm limited by what everyone else wants to do. And I'm afraid of getting in any more trouble with Tammy at the moment (more afraid of that than actually getting robbed, lol), so sneaking off on my own isn't an option. But in three days I'll be free to wander and get mugged as I please, lol.
Back in Dublin I'm currently doing laundry. Exciting, yes? No big plans for tonight- I think everyone is tired from the drive here, and we have a long day tomorrow. First we have the tour of the American Embassy in the morning. We might get to see the American Ambassador if he's in- otherwise I think we get to hang out with the secretary and maybe the Ambassador stand-in. Then we might go to the Sheraton for High Tea. The Sheraton is an insanely expensive hotel downtown, so having High Tea there is a pretty big deal. That depends on the budget tho. Tammy initally suggested it because we have extra room in our budget, but when she checked on the prices it turns out they went up since two years ago. So now she needs to rework the budget. If not High Tea, then we'll be eating out as a group downtown. Finally, tomorrow is Vicky's birthday, so we're all getting dressed up and hittin' the pubs downtown, possibly on the pub crawl again. Should be fun- no puking allowed. Saturday is just a free day (most people will probably be shopping downtown)... and Sunday I trek all my crap to the hostel I'm staying at downtown.
