Traveling Monkey's
As you can see I've made friends with the natives and been treated as an equal, despite my strange clothing and customs. But thats not what I want to talk to you about today. I want to talk about.........
Driving in Querétaro. Now thats exciting! Not that I get to drive. I'm just the scared passenger who wishes he brought more underwear. But let me tell you about it. To get an idea of what traveling by car is like in Mexico, imagine your in Mad Max, but all the drivers are blind sociopaths on acid. And theres 800,000 of them with no blinkers, no seatbelts, and cheap liquor. Now imagine that its dangerous! And crossing the street here? I think I know where they came up with the idea for ¨Frogger¨. There is no such thing as yielding or a cross-walk. I mean, there are painted lanes for pedestrians, but I think its more of a suggestion so they only have to scrape off bodies from one area.
So I ride the bus a lot. Again, traffic lanes and laws are really just vague ideas, nothing to be taken seriously. And by the sound of the engines, I would guess they are fueled by the souls of the damned. But the drivers have built in their own speaker systems and blare Christina Aguillera and Black Eyed Peas at levels that would make Pantera blush. The drivers are nice to passangers but less thoughtful to other drivers and President Bush's review of Beowulf (¨I likes monsters and swords!¨). But hey, its kinda fun. I'm doing fine and I'll write more about the woman I'm staying with a bit later on. Classes are great. I'm learning quickly and can almost speak with a 5 year old child now. I hope everyone is doing fine back home. Its nice to see comments or recieve emails so thank you. Talk to you soon!
