It has been a little difficult up til now to get a constant secure internet connection so I apologize for the lack of communication until now. I am officially back in Pau and have started classes as of today. Paris was amazing but I must be honest and say I like Pau better. It is a smaller town and I have my own room with a host family. Some of the places I visited before leaving Paris were The Palace of Versailles, The Notre Dame, The National Opera House, Le Arc De Triomphe, The Eiffel Tower, and a few different churches and museums. We also took a boat ride down the Seine river and saw a good bit of the city. We went to see Rodin's museum(the sculptor who did the thinker and the kiss). I think I have officially found a favorite artist. His work is amazing. The passion and detail he put into his sculptures is obvious. The Eiffel Tower was of course amazing and Notre Dame is a gorgeous. It may be my favorite church. It is impossible to explain the feeling of holiness and reverence you get when you walk into that building. The Palace of Versailles is ridiculous. The palace alone with it's gold and rooms and intricate artwork is beyond words. To imagine the fact that people once lived there and the work that was involved in this place is mind blowing. The gardens behind Versailles are equally amazing. They stretch as far as you can see. There are two (smaller) castles built in the garden for two for the pleasure of two of the queens I think, although when standing behind the castle they are impossible to see. You can rent a bike to ride out and see them, but I didn't have time. While on the boat ride we took Friday night going down the Seine we saw groups of people camped out along either side of the river with wine and food and just hanging out. So, Saturday night, after our dinner we went down and did the same. It was fun to just relax and enjoy the view and wave at all the many boats going by. We left Sunday afternoon for our 5 hour train ride back to Pau. And here I am. Will tell you more about the exciting life of Pau at a later time. Au Revoir!
