Okey, dokey…….another update on the job front.I have turned down the job at the 'posh' school after being offered slightly less money by Kerry at New Hope.I dithered, but decided that I came back because I want to be at New Hope and so I should stay there as the opportunity has arisen.I'm definitely going to have to stick to my miniscule budget, but it's great to feel wanted at New Hope. The other side of things is that this is very definitely where my heart is (sounds naff I know) and I think I will be much happier with the snotty, grubby little oiks and the chaos rather than the reasonably well to do kids. The air con was a big draw I must admit, but sacrifices must be made.
After the floods the road to New Hope has been dug up to create a primitive drainage ditch, which means that our tuk tuks can no longer get there and we have to wade and slosh the last half a mile……perfect! My flip flops got suctioned into the mud on the first day and I ended up squelching bare foot all the way.By some fluke there was a pair of size 7 wellies knocking around at the guest house which I've purloined and am putting to good use.
There is so much to do here that it's hard to know where to start, but I'm sure I'll get there eventually
The other task I've had is to distribute clothes to the kids……..which ones to choose?Start with the naked and move on from there. We now have boys in pink flowers and vice versa. They really don't seem to care.
If anyone wants to come and visit, just to let you know that November to January are the coolest!!!!!
Rosanne's word of the day is juxtaposition!!She's trying to improve her vocabulary and I'm her mentor.Any suggestions gratefully received.
Photos to come soon.S xx
