Okey dokey, I'm going to have to get back into the swing of this! It's been a while.
Firstly, the journey. It was all going swimmingly at Heathrow, my very overweight bag had been checked with no problems, mum hadn't started blubbing and I wasn't rushing. I got to the gate and boarded the biggest plane in the world, quite literally, it was the new A380 double decker airbus. This plane even has suites on the upper deck.......I tried for an upgrade but to no avail. Anyway, we taxi off and are queueing for take off when the captain informs us that there is a problem with the plane and we need to go back to the gate. 2 hours later we are finally in the sky. There goes my 2 hour shopping-fest at Singapore airport, still I'm thinking of the money saved.
Great plane, good food, lots of leg room, my own private entertainment system, oh and a very annoying Aussie next to me. The shared arm rest does NOT belong to you, you do NOT have the right to shove my arm off it if, heaven forbid, I should try and rest my arm for a second, I do NOT want you infringing on my leg space and I do NOT want all your s*** under my feet. I could have coped if he'd been cute but no such luck. I whiled away the 12 hours by watching The Changeling, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, Revolutionary Road, Extras and Gavin & Stacey.
Anyway, I digress. Changed at Singapore and had 3 seats to myself for the last 2 hours to Siem Reap. I was met by a tuk tuk driver and brought to my lovely guest house, where I promptly showered and fell asleep.
Today we (Janine, another newbie from England and I) had our general induction and then went out to our project for a couple of hours this afternoon. We watched a couple of lessons and are being thrown in at the deep tomorrow, so watch this space.
